Kerry Joseph

Joseph awas a QB in college with McNeese State, but was converted to a defensive back by the Seattle Sea Hawks of the NFL where he played from 1998 to 2001. After a sting with NFL Europe, Joseph was signed by the revived Ottawa franchise in 2003. Joseph threw for 3698 yards and ran for another 616 for the Renegades in his "rookie" season in the CFL. Joseph played two more seasons for Ottawa, including 2005 when he passed for over 4000 yards and ran for over a 1000, only the third time that had been done. When Ottawa folded after the 2005 season, the Saskatchewan Roughriders made a trade to secure the first pick in the dispersal draft and took Joseph. The move paid off big for the Riders in 2007 as Joseph was named the Most Outstanding Player in the CFL and led the Riders to thei rthird Grey Cup win in franchise history. In a stunning trade, in March of 2008, the Riders traded Joseph to Toronto for dE Ronald Flemon, OT Glen January, a first round pick in the 2008 college draft and a third round pick in the 2010 draft. Joseph had t aken a significant paycut to help the Riders with the new salary cap system in 2007, but his asking price for 2008 was apparently more than the Riders could afford under the cap.
