Johnson was signed by Toronto in June of 1997 and played for them for two seasons (97 and 98), mainly as a backup and on special teams. He was granted free agent status in February of 1999 and signed with Winnipeg where he played one season as a regular at linebacker. Johnson signed with the New York Giants of the NFL in March of 2000.
