After starring at the University of Toronto, Bob Isbister moved up to join the Toronto Argonauts for two seasons (1937-38). Isbistger quickly established himself as one of the best punters in Canada. Isbister and the Argonauts won the Grey Cup in both 1937 and 1938, with Isbister being named an East All-Star at halfback in 1938. Isbister left Toronto to join the Hamilton Tigers in 1939 where he earned another East All-Star at halfback. Isbister scored 9 singles on punts in 1939. This was in an era where teams actually tried to kick singles on punts as games were generally low scoring with few touchdowns. World War II interrupted Isbistger's football career as he served in the Canadian Navy. Isbistger did play some football with the Halfax Navy t eam in 1942 and 1943. Isbister's father, Bob Isbister Sr. also played with the Hamilton Tigers from 1906 to 1919 and is member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame...
