Joseph Horn was a standout footall and basketball player in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Academic problems prevent Horn from playing at South Carolina and he ended up playing two years with Itawamba Community College in Mississipi (1991-92) before returning home to Topeka. The expansion Shreveport Pirates signed Horn in 1995, and traded him to the Memphis Mad Dogs before the season started. With Mephis, Horn has a superb rookie season with 71 catches for 1415 yards to earn a South All-Star. Horn's performance caught the attention of the Kansas City Chiefs, who drafted Horn in the fifth round of the 1996 NFL college draft. Horn played four years in KC (1996-99), mainly as a kick returner and backup receiver though in his final year he saw more action and had 35 catches for 586 yards. Horn signed as a free agent with the New Orleans Saints for 2000 and got a chance to be a starter where he blossomed into a star with 94 catches for 1340 yards. Horn showed that wasn't a fluke as he had 83, 88, 78 and 94 caches in the next four years (2001-2004) and went over a thousand yards in three of those seasons. Horn dropped off a bit in his last two years in New Orleans with with 49 catches for 654 yards in 13 games in 2005 and 37 catches in 10 games in 2006. Horn signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons for 2007, but was cut after complaining about his playing time. Horn was known as a flamboyent player with a nickname of Hollywood for the way he dressed and got into trouble in 2003 over a cell phone call / stunt when he called his sons to tell them he scored a touchdown. After hurricane Katrina devestated New Orleans, Horn was very visible in providing support to the residents of the city. Wikipedia article on Joseph Horn
