From West Chester State, Norm Hopely had tryouts with Philadelphia and New Orleans in the NFL before coming North to Canada. After a 14 day trial with the Stampeders in 1980, Hopely was invited back in 1981 and played all 16 games for the Stamps. Hopely was dealt to the Montreal Concordes* just prior to the start of the 1982 season.
* The Alouettes operated for a few seasons under the name Concordes for legal reasons.
