John (Robert) Holland

Note: Holland appears to have gone by John early in his career and Robert later in his career. CFL publications use both names or even John Robert or John R Holland.

Holland was signed by BC in 1989 and played three games for them in 1990. The 1990 games are not listed in the 1998 CFL Facts & Figures for Holland but the 1997 BC Media guide indicates it was the same Holland from Sacremento State who played with them in 1990 who returned to play with them in 1996 and 1997. In 1991, Holland played for the Birmingham Fire of the WLAF and then spent 1992 and part of 1993 with the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL. Holland returned to the CFL in August of 1993 when he signed with Edmonton. Holland finished the 93 season in Edmonton and played with the Esks in 94 and 95. His best season in the CFL came with Edmonton in 1994 when his 8 interceptions propelled Holland to All Canadian status. Holland became a free agent in February of 1996 and signed with Saskatchewan on August 11, 1996. The Riders released Holland on September 5, 1996 and he joined BC on September 12, 1996 to finish the 96 season. Holland played for BC in 1997 and was then released in April of 1998.
