Bill Henry was born in Minneapolis, but his football training came in Canada, so he is considered a non-import. Henry played 5 seasons as a defensive end for the Richmond Raiders junior team from 1978 to 1982. Henry also acted as the defensive line coach for the Raiders in 1985 before being drafted in the 5th round (38th overall) by Saskatchewan in the 1986 CFL college draft. Converted to tghe offensive line, Henry played three games for the Riders in 1986*. Henry was traded to Winnipeg in June 1987 and he was released to return to the Richmond Jr. team. Signed again with Saskatchewan in March of 1988, Henry played all of 1988 with the Green & White. He started the 1989 season with the Riders and was then traded to Hamilton in August of 1989 for a second round pick in the 1990 draft (offensive lineman Chris Giaskos). Henry did not play any games in 1990 for Hamilton and was released in September 1990. Henry was signed by Calgary in January of 1991 and played all 18 games for them in 1991. Released by Calgary in July of 1992 and picked up by BC in September of 1992 an played one game for them. Traded to Toronto in June, 1993 and was released in July 1993 after playng 2 games for Toronto. Henry was signed by Hamilton in Spetember of 1993 and played 9 games for them before being released in November of 1993. Signed by Edmonton in April of 1994. * The 1987 CFL Facts & Figures lists a Henry Williams as playing 3 games when it should be William Henry - 1986 was also the first season for Henry (Gizmo) Williams in Edmonton.
