Born in Memphis and attending Memphis State*, Eric Harris was drafted in the fourth round of the 1977 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Harris ended up joining the Toronto Argonauts in 1977 and played three seasons for he double blue. Harris had an excellent rookies season with 7 interceptions, including one he returned 115 yards for a touchdown. Harris won an East All-Star in that rookie season and added a second East All-Star in his second season in 1978 with another 3 interceptions. Harris finished his CFL career with another 3 interceptions in 1979 for a career total of 13. Harris's football career was not over though. Harris returned to the States and played six seasons, three with the Kansas City Chiefs and three with the Los Angelas Rams. Eric Harris passed away on February 19, 2012. * Memphis State is now known as the Universityh of Memphis. Note: The 2012 CFL Facts and Figures lists Harris as winning an East All-Star in 1980, but he did not play in the CFL in 1980.
