Jack Harper

John Harper, mot often referred to as Jack Harper, started his senior career with the Hamilton Tigers* of the ORFU in 1948 where he led the league in scoring with 60 points.  In 1949, Harper and fellow Tiger star, quarterback Frank Filchock signed with the Montreal Alouettes and helped the Larks win their first Grey Cup in franchise history.  Harper would go on to play four seasons in Montreal (1949-52), two with Saskatchewan (1953-54) and his final season in 1955 with the Toronto Argonauts.

* The Hamilton Tigers had played for nearly 40 years in the Big Four / IRFU, but in a dispute over the salary of Frank Filchock, had switched to the ORFU in 1948. Harper played halfback, on both offence and defence.  Jack Harper has passed away.**
