Billy Hardee started his college career as a wide receiver at Virginaia Tech was was converted into a defensive back. After graduating, Hardee played two seasons in the NFL, 1976 with the Denver Broncos and 1977 with the New York Jets. Hardee came to the CFL in 1978 with Calgary, but played only one game with the Stampeders before moving to Toronto. Hardee's best years would come in 1979 and 1980 when he won East division All-Stars in both seasons. In 1979, Hardee had 8 interceptions, second in the East, and then led the East with 7 interceptions in 1980. Hardee split the 1981 between Toronto and Ottawa, adding another four interceptions. In his final season in 1982 with Ottawa, Hardee had another 4 interceptions to bring his career total to 23. Hardee was also a noted punt returner with 1980 being his best season. That year, Hardee was third in the East with 371 yards, including two returned for touchdowns. Hardee scored his third career touchdown on a fumble return with Ottawa in his final season in 1982. Following his football career, Billy Hardee pursued a career in education, and was a Vice Principal when he was killed in a motorcycle accident on July 4, 2011. Billy Hardee Dies From Injuries
