After attending Los Angelas Pearce Junior College and graduating from San Fernando Valley State College (now known as California State - Northridge), Barrie Hansen played ten years in the CFL as a defensive back from 1961 to 1970. Hansen played three years each for Montreal (1961-63), Winnipeg (64-66), Hamilton (67-69) with a final year in BC in 1970. Hansen recorded 21 career interceptions with at least one in every year he played. Hansen's best year was 1968 when Hansen had 5 interceptions.
Other career highlights for Hansen include his sole touchdown on a fumble return in 1965 with Winnipeg and an 85 yard punt return in his final season with BC in 1970.
