Mike Hameluck played junior football with the Ottawa Sooners before signing with Montreal as a free agent in 1978. Hameluck played just three regular season games in his rookie season, and didn't dress for the Montreal Grey Cup loss that year to Edmonton. Hameluck played 12 games in his second season in 1979, and this time he dressed for the Grey Cup. Unfortunately for Hameluck and the Als, it was a second straight loss to the powerful Edmonton Eskimo team that would go on to win five straight Grey Cups. Hameluck played two more seasons with Montreal (1980 and 1981), before being traded to Toronto for the 1982 season. Hameluck was traded to Toronto along with guard Roland Mangold for guard John Faubert and offensive tackle Jeff Hale. Hameluck would go on to play three seasons for the Argos (1982-84) where he made it to two more Grey Cups. In 1982, Toronto lost to Edmonton in their fifth Grey Cup victory of their record breaking streak, but on his third trip to the Grey Cup in 1983, Hameluck got a victory as Toronto beat BC 18-17 right in Vancouver. After one more year in Toronto, Hameluck was traded once again. This time Hameluck was traded to Ottawa for running back John Park and a third round draft pick. Hameluck played just seven games for Ottawa in 1985 before being released by the Rough Riders in September. Winnpeg signed Hameluck as a free agent in May, 1986 and he played 14 games for the Bombers in his final season.
