Harold Humber was the younger brother of Eric (Tammy) Humbar who also played for St. John's College (Winnipeg) and who captained the Toronto Argonauts. Like tammy, Eric was quite involved in sports and worked in his own financial services business in Winnipeg. He was a graduate of the University of Manitoba. During WWI, Harold went over to Europe as a Captain in the Army Service Corps. While in London, he attended flight school and later joined the Aviation Corps as a pilot. In June 1917, Harold died from injuries sustained in an aeroplane crash.

[Note: The Toronto All-Time roster lists Harold Hamber, as playing for the Argos in 1905-06. This appears to be an error as it was his older brother Eric Hamber who went by the nickname Tammy and played for the Argos.]
