Larry Grigg was a star running back and defensive back with Oklahoma and was drafted in the second round of the 1954 NFL draft by the Baltimore Colts. While with the Sooners, Grigg played a starring role in the 1954 Orange Bowl victory over Maryland. While drafted by Baltimore, Grigg never played any games in the NFL and instead came North to the CFL in 1954. Grigg played 8 games in 1954 with moderate success, rushing for 300 yards as a running back and recording two interceptions as a defensive back. . Grigg had some probelms adjusting to the different offense of Coach Peahead Walker and also had an ankle injury. In November of 1954, Grigg got his military call-up by Uncle Same and joined the Marines where he would play football at Qualico. After his military service, Grigg returned to the Alouettes in 1958 for four games. Larry Grigg passed away on July 12, 2001. Account of the 1954 Orange Bowl Grigg Gets Army Call - November 24, 1954
