John "Amazing" Grace had a relatively brief CFL career of only eight years (2000 to 2007), but at the top of his career, no one burned brighter. Grace started his CFL career when he signed with Montreal in June of 2001 and spent most of his first two years sitting and waiting his turn as he only played a total of seven games. The expansion Ottawa Renegades took a chance on Grace in the 2002 expansion draft and Grace blossomed for them, with 66 defensive tackles, 3 intercetions, 5 fumble recoveries and 8 forced fumbles to win East and CFL All-Star selections. After the 2003 season, Grace was part of a big trade with the Calgary Stampeders. Grace went to Calgary along with defensive end Fred Perry, quarterback Romero Miller and offensive tackle Seth Ditman for defensivie back Anthony Malbrough, defensive end Kai Ellis, kicker Sandro Sciortino, defensive tackle Jerry Johnson and a second round draft pick. Grace rebounded from a bit of an off year in 2003 and won West and CFL All-Stars with Calgary in both 2004 and 2005. Grace was also named the Outstanding Defensive Player in the West in 2004, and followed that up with the Outstanding Defensive Player award for the CFL in 2005. Grace returned to Montreal in 2007 as a free agent, but his second stint lasted only two games as Grace's star had burned itself out.
