Coming out of Baylor, Roger Coree played eight years in the CFL from 1973 to 1980, and was one of the top linebackers in the league during his career. Goree played two seasons with Calgary (1973-74) and six seasons with Saskatchewan (1975-80). Groee won four West All-Star honours (1973, 1974, 1976 and 1977) and two CFL All-Stars (1974 and 1976). Goree recorded 17 career interceptions and 9 career fumble recoveries. Twice, Goree had 4 interceptions in a season (1974 and 1976) which by no coinicidence are the two seasons he was a CFL All-Star. Goree recorded three career touchdowns, two on interception returns and one on a fumble return. Goree made it to one Grey Cup in his career which was 1976 with Saskatchewan. Unfortunately for Goree and the Riders, that was the year of the last play Tony Gabriel touchdown which gave Ottawa the victory.
