Willie Gillus started his pro career, signing as a free agent with the Green Bay Packers. Gillus's first stop in the CFL was with Calgary in the fall of 1986, but he didn't make it into the line-up with the Stampeders. BC signed Gillus for the 1988 season, but he saw minimul action, dressing for just one game. Gillus was released by BC late in training camp by BC in 1989. Ottawa signed Gilus as a free agent in August of 1989 and he got into two games with the Rough Riders. Ottawa released Gillus after the 1989 season and he signed with the Toronto Argos in October of 1990. Gillus spent two seasons with Toronto, mainly as a backup quarterback.
