Gino Fracas was born in Windsor and had an outstanding career at Western Ontario as a running back and linebacker.  Fracas was then drafted by the Ottawa Rough Riders, but ended up going West to play his entire career with the Edmonton Eskimos from 1955 to 1962  Other than a few carries in his rookie season, Fracas played most of his career at linebacker, recording six interceptions, including four in 1959.  With Edmonton, Fracas won Grey Cups in his first two years in 1955 and 1956.  After retiring as a player, Fracas went into coaching, first with the University of Alberta (1963-67) where he won three league championships and then with his hometown Windsor Lancers from 1968 to 1986. Fracas was the college coach of the year twice (1976 and 1977).  Gino Fracas passed away at the age of 79 on October 29, 2009.
