After playing at New Hampshire, Joe Fleming had a tryout with the Clevelan Browns in 1995 and then signed with the BC Lions in April, 1996. Fleming would go on to become one of the top defensie linemen in CFL history, winning five divison All-Stars (1998, 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2004) and four CFL All-Stars (1998, 2000, 2001 and 2003). Fleming was also named the Outstanding Defensive Player in the CFL in 2003. After two years with the Lions (1996-97), before becoming a free agent and signing with Winnipeg where he won his first division and CFL All-Star in 1998. After the 1999 season, Fleming became a gree agent again and signed with Calgary where he played two seasons (200 and 2001). Fleming retired in June, 2002 and did not play that season. Fleming returned to football with Calgary in 2003 which was his best season with his all-star selections and outstanding defensive player award. In September, 2004, Fleming was traded to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for his second tour of duty with the Blue and Gold. The trade sent Fleming, safety Wes Lysack and fullback Scott Regimbald to Winnpeg for quarterback Khari Jones, fullback Randy Bowles and a fourth round draft pick. Winnipeg finished his career with Winnipeg in 2005. In total, Fleming recorded 70 career quarterback sacks.
