Ron Estay was an eight round pick of the Denver Broncos out of Llouisian State.  Estary started his CFL career with the BC Lions in 1972 and somehow they let him get away to Edmonton early in the 1973 season.  Bad for BC, but very good for Estay and Edmdonton. Estay would remain with the Eskimos until 1982, winning four West All-Star honours at defensive end (1973, 1977, 1978 and 1980) and two CFL All-Stars (1977 and 1980).  In the 10 seasons that Estay was in Edmonton, the Eskimos went to the Grey Cup in 9 of those seasons, winning 6 and losing 3.  Edmonton won Grey Cups in 1975 and then in five consecutive years from 1978 to 1982.  The losses came in 1973, 1974 and 1977.  In Estay's final season in 1982, however, he played only one game.  Estay's stats for thos years are incomplete as the CFL did not record defensive tackles at all and only started recording quarterback sacks in 1981 in which Estay had 10.  Estay returned to the CFL in 2001 as a an assistant coach, surprisingly enough with the rival Saskatchewan Roughriders.  Estay remained with the Riders until 2008 when health reasons forced him to quit.  Ron Estay was elected to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2003.
