From the University of PUrdue, Joey Elliott spent three seasons (2010-12) with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, mainly as a backu[ at quarterback, but seeing some action when Buck Pierce was hurt. Winnipeg released Winnipeg prior to the start of the 2013 season. The BC Lions signed Elliott to have a veteran backup behind Travis Lulay. The Lions then released Elliott halfway through the 2013 season when ironically, the Lions traded for Buck Pierce from Winnipeg. Elliottt got a reprieve when Lulay was injured and was resigned by BC.
