Garner Ekstran

Ekstran was an oustanding defensive end and linebacker, playing seven of his eight years with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Ekstran played with the Riders from 1961 to 1967, and finished his career in BC in 1968. Since stats for sacks and tackles were not kept during his career, Kestran is rather underrepresented in the CFL statistics, but he was a a four time West All-Star and a three time All-Canadian. Ekstran won West and All-Canadian honours at Defensive End in 1962 and 1963. Ekstran was a Western All-Star at Defensive End in 1966, and won both Western and All-Canadian honours at linebacker in 1967. Ekstram will always have a fond spot in Rider fan memories as a key member of the 1966 Grey Cup winning team - the first in Rider history.
