Pierre Dumont was born in Montreal and took up footbal later than most, playing first with the N.D.G Maple Leafs junior club before joining the Alouettes. Dumont had a tryout with the Als in 1965, but only stuck with the club in 1966. Dumont played well enough that the Alouettes kept him at the outside (corner) linebacker spot over import Loren Buser, but a knee injury ended Dumont's season at eight games. Dumont recorded one pass interception in that rookie season, nearly returning it for a touchdown. That first CFL touchdnown had to wait until 1969 when Dumont had another interception that he returnedfor six points. In all, Dumont played three seasons for Montreal from 1966 to 1969 (missing 1968) and dressing for 36 games. After leaving football as a player, Dumonto continued to be associated with the game, spending many years as the color commentator on CKAC Radio.
