Wally Dempsey was a tugh nosed middle linebacker out of Washingon State. Demplsey signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1965 and would play five seasons in Green and White from 1965 to 1969. In that span, Dempsey won two West All-Stars in 1968 and 1969, as well as a CFL All-Star in 1968. In 1970, Dempsey played out his option and took a shot at the NFL iwth the Los Angelas Rams. After his relase by LA, Dempsey returned to the CFL in 1970 with the BC Lions. , Dempsey returned to Saskatchewan for two more seasons in 1971 and 1972. Partway through the 1972 season, Dempsey was released by the Riders, and in 1973 he signed with the New York Jets for another shot in the NFL. Demplsey totalled 16 fumble recoveries and 11 interceptions in his CFL career. Dempsey was selected to the Saskatchewan Plaza of Honor in 1995.
