Along with Joey Walters and Emanual Tolbert, DeFrance was part of an oustanding receiving corps for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the early 1980s. DeFrance started his career with three 1000+ yards receiving seasons from 1981 to 1983 and likely only missed 1000 yards in his next two seasons due to injuries (917 yards in 14 games and 696 yars in 12 games0. 1982 marked DeFrance's biggest year for catches with 78 in a 16 game schedule, and while that failed to garner All-Star recognition, DeFrance was named a Western All-Star in the following two seasons (1983 and 1984). In his brief 5 year CFL career, DFrance had 328 catches in 71 games for an average of over 4.5 catches per game and a career total of 5035 yards. DeFrance was t raded to Montreal in February of 1986 for LB John Pointer, but never played any games for the Als.
