It was a short but brilliant career. He joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders late in 1974, making 14 catches in 5 games. In 1975, Dawson finished second in the West in receiving with 69 catches and 1191 yards, behind only the great George McGowen of Edmonton. In 1976, it was again Dawson and McGowen as 1-2 in the west in receiving and this time Dawson came out on top with 65 catches for 996 yards.
