After starring in the 1957 Cotton Bowl, Curtis was a seventh round draft pick as a QB out of Texas Christian University (TCU). Curtis started the season with Winnipeg, but was traded on September 12, 1957 to the New York Giants of the NFL for Pete Mangum and a player to be named later.
