Dave Crabbe was from Nova Scotia and played his college football at Kent State where he lettered in his last two years 19(67, 1968). Crabbe would sign with the Calgary Stampeders in 1969 and play for seasons for them (1969-72). Crabbe also tried out in 1973, 1974 and 1975, but did not dressfor any games in those years. Crabbe is a member of the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame from which the following was taken. David Crabbe was a natural athlete with speed and grace. He was a star football and basketball player with Queen Elizabeth High School (QEH) in Halifax. He saw plenty of floor time for the QEH basketball team that was to win a Canadian juvenile championship. His coach knew he could excel at a higher level particularly at football. David went on to play at Kent State University where he played for four years. He was drafted by the Ottawa Rough Riders but was cut before the end of his first training camp. He was claimed on waivers by the Calgary Stampeders and played for four years with the Stamps, winning a Grey Cup with them in 1971. While injuries cut short his career, he had the insight while in Calgary to start a career in the oil business. David Crabbe was elected to the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in 1996.
