It is perhaps not so much that Cosentiono put up big numbers during his CFL career (which he didn't) that makes him a significant QB in CFL history, but that he put up any numbers at all. With the Canadian QB pretty much extinct since 1970, Cosentino was one of the last Canadians to get more than a cup of coffee at the pivot position. Cosentino played 10 years in the CFL, spanning the 1960s from 1960 to 1969. The first six years were spent with Hamilton where he was mainly a backup for Bernie Faloney for his first five years. His only significant playing time came in 1962 when Cosentino got his chance to playe due to an injury to Faloney and threw 145 passes, completing 68 of them for 1182 yards. In 1965 and 1966, with Faloney moved on, Cosentino shared the QB duties with Joe Zuger and had 876 and 1252 yards passing. In 1966, Zuger took over as the #1 QB in Hamilton and Cosentino was traded to Edmonton. The Eskimos were still looking for a QB to replace Jackie Parker and were willing to give a Canadian a shot. In 1967, Cosentino had by far his most productive CFL season, completing 169 of 330 attempts for 2809 yards and 16 touchdowns. In 1968, Cosentino was back to sharing the QB duties with another in the long string of QB hopefuls in Edmonton at that time, Charlie Fulton, and had just 139 attempts and 858 yards passing. Cosentino returned East for his final season in 1969 and backed up Tom Wilkinson in Toronto, with 102 attempts and 800 yards passing.

The 2 fumble recoveries in 1965 were likely OTF (Own Team's Fumbles recovered), but the stats at that time did not distinguish betwen offensive and defensive fumble recoveries.
