Wes Cooper was a third round draft pick of the Calgary Stempeders in the 1985 CFL College draft. Cooper was released by the Stamps prior to the 1985 season, and he signed as a free agent with Montreal a year later for the 1986 season. Cooper saw action as a backup running back and on special teams. The highlight of Cooper's rookie season was a 30 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. The Alouettes folded just prior to the start of the 1987 season and Cooper ended up not playing in 1987. He was signed a free agent by BC prior to the 1988 season, and spent two years with the Lions.
