Charlie Collins was a star linebacker from Auburn University who had a free agent tryout with the Dallas Cowboys. After his release by Dallas, Collins joined the Montreal Alouettes in 1968 and played three seasons for the Larks. Collins won a Grey cup with Montreal in 1970, and was also named an East All-Star at linebacker that season. The following season, Collins was traded to Saskatchewan where he would play five seasons (1971-75) in Green and White. Collins made it to a second Grey Cup with Saskatchewan in 1972, but the Riders lost to Hamilton on the late Ian Sunter fieldgoal. Charlie Collins passed away in a car accident on February 23, 2012.
