Coflin was a first round draft pick (sixth overall) in 1986 by Edmonton. Coflin was released by Edmonton in June, 1986 before the season started and was signed by Calgary. Coflin was normally an offensive lineman, but he saw some action on defense with Calgary in his rookie season as he recorded his only sack of his career. Calgary released Coflin n September of 1987 and he was signed by BC in October, finishing the season with the Lions. Coflin remained a Lion for the next two seasons (1988-89) before becoming a free agent prior to the 1990 season and signed with Toronto. The Argos released Coflin in October of 1990, but resigned him in June of 1991 before releasing him for a second time in November of 1991.
