Merl Code played college football at North Carolina A & T before joining the Montreal Alouettes in 1970. Code played 14 games in his rookie season at cornerback and was with the Als when they won the Grey Cup in 1970. Code followd up his rookie season with 4 interceptions in just 11 games in 1971. 1972 and 1973 saw Code play only a total of 5 games. After being away from the CFL for two seasons playing in the World Football League with the Memphis Southmen (1974-75), Code returned to play 5 games and record two interceptions with the Ottawa Rough Riders in 1976. After retiring from football, Codewent back to school and got a law degree to go with his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Code is now a municipal judge and a businessman in Greenville, South Carolina. Code was elected to the North Carolina A & T Hall of Fame in 1999. Merl Code Trustee at Furman University
