Pat Claridge was born in Vancouver and played junoir football with the Vancouver Blue Bombers before going South of the border to play atg Washington University from 1958 to 1960. Clkaridge was a star with the Huskies and went to back to back Rose Bowls witgh the team. Claridge returned to B.C. and joined the Lions in 1961 where he would play for six seasons until th eend of 1966. After ayear away in 1967, Claridge joined Calgary in 1968, but played only one game for the Stampeders. Clariidge wa s atight end in a nera where the tight end was not generally a primary passing target, and in in an era where the run still dominated. Still Claridge, put up some pretty decent receiving numbers by the standards of those days. Claridge's best seasons came in 1964 when he had 39 catches for 577 yards and in 1965 when he set a career high with 41 catches nad 554 yards. Claridge was a big part of the 1964 Lions team that won the first Grey Cup in the young franchise's history. Claridge's older brother Bruce Claridge was also a receiver i nthe CFL, mainly with the Lions and the Stampeders. Pat Claridge passed away on March 8, 2012. Lions Mourn the Death of the Pat Claridge
