Hency Charles played eight years in the CFL as a backup defensive back and on special teams. Charles' best season was 1998 when he recorded 10 defense tackles and a league leading 31 special teams tackles. It took Charles a few years to make it to the CFL, as the Ottawa university star first signed with the Montreal Machine of the WLAF in 1991. Charles debuted in the CFL three years later with the Toronto Argonauts, playing seven games in 1994. Charles was released by the Argos and signed with Saskatchewan in June of 1995. It was a short stay as Charles was released after just two gemes in July of 1995. Edmonton signed Charles in September of that same year and he played six games for the Esks. With the rebirth of the Montreal franchise in 1996, the Als needed Canadian talent and they picked up Charles from Edmonton. Charles had his most productive years with the Alouettes from 1996 through 1999. Charles was released by Montreal in July of 2000 and he was signed for the second time by Edmonton where he played 14 games in 2000. In his final season, Charles did some more travelling, starting the year in Edmonton, being released in July, making a second stop in Saskatchewan where he played one game and then returning to Edmonton in October. Charles was released one final time by Edmonton in December of 2001.
