Cavil was signed by Montreal in October of 2002 and saw action in one game that year. Cavil became a regular in Montreal in 2003 and had a breakout season in 2004 with 78 catches and 1090 yards which earned him Eastern All-Star recognition. Things didn't go so well for Cavil after that big season, howver, as he started 2005 with Montreal and was traded to Edmonton where he played well, but had injury problems (31 catches in just 7 games). Edmonton traded Cavil to Hamilton for a fourth round draft pick prior to the 2006 season. Cavil, however played only two games for Hamilton before being traded to Winnipeg for a third round draft pick. Released by Winnipeg, Cavil resigned with Hamilton in March of 2007, but was released prior to the start of the season.
