Robbie Campbell was a defensive halfback out of the University of Western Ontario. Campbell played six years at Western while earning his M.D. Besides football, where he was named an All-Canadian, Campbell also starred in basketball, track and wrestling while at university. Campbell was drafted by the Edmonton Eskimos and played four games in his rookie season in 1967. Campbell was released in September of 1967 to make room for another rookie Canadian, Mike Law, who was picked up from Hamilton. Campbell returned to the Eskimos in 1968 and played in all 16 games, backing up John Wydareny at safety, and recording three interceptions. Besides defensive back, Campbell also saw action on kick returns. Campbell was released by Edmonton prior to the start of the 1969 season. Campbell returned to play one game for the BC Lions in 1970.
