Lou Cafazzo was born in Hamilton and attended Eastern Michigan University. Cafazzo transferred to Western Ontario for his final year in 1988 and was not eligible to play for the Mustangs. Cafazzo did work out with the Western Ontario team and played junior fuootball withh the London Beefeaters. Cafazzo was drafted in the third round of the 1989 CFL College draft by the Calgary Stampeders and played 5 years for the Stamps from 1989 to 1993. Cafazzo was traded to his hometown Tiger-Cats for defensive lineman Lubo Zizakovic. Cafazzo played three more seasons in the CFL with Hamilton (1994-96). Mainly an offensive lineman during his time in Calgary, Cafazzo saw some action on the defensive line with Hamilton which was where he played at Eastern Michigan and London.
