Henry Burris
Burris joinen the Calgary in 1997, dressing for just one game in his rookie season. Burris saw limited action his the next two years with Calgary mainly because the Stampeders had established QBs in Jeff Garcia and Dave Dickenson. When Roy Shivers moved from Calgary to become the Saskatchewean GM, he signed Burris as a free agent and "Smiling Hank" took over as the Rider's starting QB in 2000. Burris responded in his first season as a starter by completing 63.5% of his 576 pass attempts for 4647 yards. Unfortunately for the Riders, Burris's strong arm and quick feet caught the attention of the NFL and Burris signed with the Green Bay Packers in 2001. After his release, Burris rejoined Saskatchewan in 2003, but at that time Nealon Greene had established hismelf as the Rider's starter and Burris sw little action in the 10 games he dressed for. In 2004, Greene was again named the starting QB, but he broke his leg in the first game of the season and Burris retook the startering job. Burris again pased for over 4000 yards in 2004, only to shock Rider fans by bolting to the Calgary Stampeders as a free agent. In his first three seasons with Calgary, Burris passed for over 4000 yards in each season, and was the West All-Star at QB in 2006.
