From the University of Minnesota, Arland Bruce signed as a free agent with the Winnipeg Blue bombers prior to the 2001 season.. Bruce had a decent rookie season with 48 catches and then had his first thousand yard season in his second year in 2002 with 67 catches and 1062 yards. That was good enough to catch the attention of the NFL and Bruce signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles. Bruce returned to the CFL in 2004, signing as a free agent with the Toronto Argonauts and playing seven games. Things really started to take off for Bruce in 2005 with 67 catches for 1205 yards to earn his first East All-Star. Bruce upped his numbers in 2006 to 77 catches for 1370 yards to win his second East All-Star selection and his first CFL All-Star. Bruce missed four games in 2007 and fell short of the 1000 yard mark, but came back in 2008 to set a new personal career high with 92 catches for 1210 yards and won his third East All-Star honour. Bruce fell out of favour in Torono early in 2009 season and after just three games was traded to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for a third round draft pick and the rights to Cory Mace. Bruce responded well to the new environment in Hamilton and a total of 88 catches for 1242 yards to win his fifth division All-Star and his second CFL All-Star. 2010 was anothe very good season for Bruce with Hamilton with 86 catches for 1303 yards and winning his fiftgh East All-Star and third CFL All-Star. Bruce got off to a slow start with Hamilton in 2011 and was traded to the BC Lions after just four games for a third found draft pick and future consideratoins. With BC, Bruce teamed up with another great receiver in Geroy Simon to give BC a superb 1-2 punch at slotback and help take the Lions to a Grey Cup victory.. Injuries and perhaps the ravages of time hurt Bruce in 2012 as he had only 43 catches for 603 yards. The Lions released Bruce afte the season and he was signed by the Montreal Alouettes for 2013. From the Montreal Press Release "Arland offers us a solid playmaker and legitimate game changer," said Popp. "He is one of those players that makes the other team a little nervous when he is on the field." Bruce eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark six times in his career. He is a two-time Grey Cup winner (2004 and 2011) and was selected as a CFL All-Star in 2006, 2009, and 2010 while also being a five-time East Division All-Star.
