After being a first round pick (5th overall) in the 1997 CFL College Draft, it took Brown a few years to make his way to the CFL. It was the Stampeders who drafted Brown, but he spent two years (1998 and 1999) in the NFL with the Washington Redskins before he joined the Winnipeg Blue Bombers who obtained him in a trade from Calgary for a 2003 third round draft pick (Mike Labinjo). Once he joined he Blue Bombers, Brown quickly became one of the best deensive tackles in the CFL. Brown is a dominating force in the middle of the Bomber defense and has wons six division All-Stars (2001, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009) and five CFL All-Stars (2001, 2002, 2006, 2007 and 2008). In his rookie season in 2001, Brown was named the Oustanding Canadian and in 2006 and 2007 Brown was the East nominee for Outstanding Canadian and the CFL runner-up. In 2008, Brown was named the East's Outstanding Defensive Player and a runner-up for the CFL award. As of the end of the 2009 season, Brown had recorded 44 career sacks and had played in two Grey Cups (2001 and 2007), losing both times.
