Al Brenner came from the great football program at Michigan State and was a seventh round draft pick of the New York Giants of the NFL in 1969. After two seasons (1969-70) with the Giants, Brenner signed with Hamilton in 1971. Brenner had an excellent rookie season with the Tiger-Cats, recording 9 interceptions which lead the East and 2 fumble recoveries. Brenner scored two touchdowns, one on an interception return and one on a fuble return. Brenner then went on to have a career season in 1972, recording 15 interceptions which still stands as the CFL record, and thast was done in a 14 game schedule. Brenner , not suprisingly won both East and CFL All-Stars in 1972. Brenner played two more seasons in Hamilton, recording 4 interceptions in 1973 and 7 in 1974 to win his second East All-Star at defensive back. Brenner started the 1975 season with Winnipeg and finished it with Ottawa. Brenner played t wo more seasons in Ottawa, finishing his career after the 1977 season. In total, Brnner recorded 38 career interceptions. After his playing career, Brenner coached in Burlington and then mysteriously disapeard in 1983, and didn't remake contact with his family until 1991 unable to explain his disapearance.
