Ed BradleyEd Bradley was born in Stratford, Connecticut and was a star football and baseball player in high schoool. Bradley served in the Navy in World War II before resuming his sports career. Initially, Bradley's athletic career took him to baseball, playing in the minor league system of the Boston Red Sox. While playing minor league baseball in North Carolina, a former Wake Forest alumni convinced Bradley to go to college at Wake Forest. Douglas "Peahead" Walker was the head coach of the Wake Forest football team and he convinced Bradley to play football. Bradley played both ways for Wake Forest and was the co-captain of the team in 1949. After graduating in 1950, Bradley was signed by the Chicago Bears under coach George Halas. Bradley played three years for the Bears and then went north to the CFL to rejoin his old college coach, Peahead Walker, with the Montreal Alouettes. Bradley played 13 games for the Als in 1953 and two games with the Toronto Argonauts in 1954 before ending his football career. After leaving football, Bradley worked as a personal manager back in Connecticut for Sikorsky Aircraft and Pratt & Whtiney. Bradley left the business world to work at carpentry, one of the things he loved best. Ed's son, Ed Bradley Jr., also played football in the NFL. Ed Bradley passed away on December 30, 2009 at a rest home in Connecticut.
