After playing at Wesern Michigan, Allan Boyko was drafted in the third round (19th overall) by the Winnipeg Blue bombers in the 1990 CFL collegedraft. Boyko would return to play for the Bombers, but not without a one year detour to Saskatcheswan. In July,1991, boyko was traded to the Riders along with quarterback Lee Saltz and Bomber first round draft picks in 1991 and 1992 for quarterback Tom Burgess. Boyko played mainly on special t eams and did some kick returning for the Riders in his one season in green and white. Boyko was then traded back to Winnipeg along with one of those first round draft picks for linebakce Tyron Jones and future considerations. After not playing in 1992, Boyko played five seasons for the bombers, though there was another detour in 1996, this time to Montreal. When the Alouettes were reformed in 1996 by the relocation of the Baltimore team. The Alouettes selected Boyko in a draft to restock the Canadian t alent of the team. Montreal, however, released Boyko just before the 1996 season started and he returned to Winnipeg. In his first two seasons in Winnipeg, Boyko saw action mainly returning punts and kickoffs and had only 12 pass receptions in total for the two years. Boyko started to see more action on offence in 1995 with 23 catches and improved that number in the next two years to 27 and a career high of 30 in his final season in 1997.
