Alouettes sign John Bowman to new three-year deal Bowman (6'3", 250 lbs.) finished tied for the Alouettes team lead alongside teammate Shea Emry last season with seven sacks in only 15 games, bringing his career total to 60 - good for second on Montreal's list of all-time sack leaders. The 30-year-old also recorded a career-best 37 defensive tackles in 2012 and helped secure a crucial victory for Montreal when he sacked Saskatchewan quarterback Darian Durant on the final play of the game in Week 16. "John is and has been one of our hardest working players. He is as tough as they come and plays the game with passion. We look forward to his growing leadership with the team for the future," explained Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp. Since first signing with Montreal in 2006, the two-time Grey Cup champion and three-time East Division All-Star has recorded over 30 defensive tackles in five consecutive seasons, starting from 2008. Bowman also continues to be active in the Montreal community, returning again this year for his sixth off-season as a cornerstone of the Together at School with CN and the Alouettes program, where players visit students across Quebec to encourage them to stay in school while focusing on the wide array of challenges they face today from peer pressure and academic performance to the importance of staying active.
