A native of Timmins, Ontario, Bandiera played his college football with St. Michaels College in Toronto and Queen's University. Bandiera joined the Montreal Alouettes for their inaugral season in 1946, and also played for them in 1947. After a year spent back in school at Queen's in 1948, Bandiera joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders for two years in 1949 and 1950. From 1951 to 1953, Bandiera playd for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and won a West All-Star at defensive guard. Bandiera finished his career with two years in Calgary in 1954 and 1955.
