Charles Baillie played five seasons for the Montreal Alouettes, spread out over twelve years. He is listed in the Montreal All-Time roseter as a FB and Center, but he also played some defense. In 1957, Baillie had 7 carries for 37 yards and very respectable 5.3 yard average per carry. In 1960, Baillie had two interceptions playing defense for the Als. Baillie also filled in as a placekicker when needed, kicking 2 converts on 2 attempts in 1965, and four singles on missed fieldgoals. Baille played a couple of years in the Conintental Football League, 1964 with the Quebec Rifles and 1966 with the Montreal Beavers. Charles is the twin brother of Ray Baillie, who also played for the Alouettes. After his playing days were done, Baillie went into coaching. Baillie started out as an assistant coach with McGill, then became the head coach at Sir George Williams University (now Concordia), and then head coach at McGill. The latter post he held for 29 years from 1972 to 2000 when he retired.
