Derick Armstrong came out of the University of Arkansas - Monticello and signed as a free agent with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2001.. In 2009, Winnipeg had a new head coach in Mike Kelly and Armstrong rebelled at his role of designated import and refused to play which led to his release by the Bombers. Armstrong signed as a free agent with the BC Lions for 2010 and things didn't go well on the coast.
