Annett was drafted in the first round (third overall) by Toronto in the 2002 CFL college draft. After two seasons with the Argos, Annett was traded to Winnipeg in February of 2004 along with Randy Bowles for Winnipeg's first round draft pick in the 2004 draft and third round pick in 2005.
