Andreotti was an outstanding two-way player at Northwestern (1957-59), playing both centre and on the defensive line. In 1959, he was the first junior in the history of Northwestern to be named co-captain. In 1960, Andeotti was named an All-American, a Big 10 first team All-Star and the MVP for Northwestern. Andreotti was drafted by the Detroit Lions (4th round, 39th overall) of the NFL, but ended up coming north to play in the CFL for 8 years from 1960 to 1967, splitting his time between Toronto and Montreal. Andreottti started with the Argonauts and played three seasons for them (1960-62) before being traded to Montreal for linebacker Ron Brewer. Andreotti played four seasons in Montreal (1963-66), and then was traded back to Toronto along with Ed Learn for linebacker Jim Al Ecuyer. Andreotti played for the Argos in 1967, but then wanted to return to Montreal where he had a full-time job. Since tackle and sack stats were not kept during those years, there is not much in the way of stats to document Andreotti's performance, but he was a four time East All-Star (1960 through 1963) at linebacker, and a CFL All-Star in 1963. He obviously was doing thing right! Jim Andreotti was selected to the Northwestern Sports Hall of Fame in 1994.
